Every Roofer Says They’re ‘Different’ — Here’s How to Prove It

If you’re a New Jersey homeowner shopping around for roof replacement quotes, this page is for you.

I know firsthand how overwhelming the process can feel. You go to Google, type in “roof replacement near me,” and suddenly you’re staring at hundreds—sometimes thousands—of roofing companies. If you don’t personally know a roofer you trust, you’re left trying to sort through reviews, ads, websites, and promises that all sound the same.

That confusion is exactly why I made this video.

The First Thing You Should Look for When Hiring a Roofer

Before you compare prices, materials, or warranties, there’s one thing you should look at first:

What organization is the roofing company part of?

If a roofing contractor isn’t part of a legitimate, accountability-based organization, you should keep looking. The group I’m referring to represents less than 1% of roofing contractors nationwide.

That organization is the Roofing & Solar Reform Alliance (RSRA).

What Is the Roofing & Solar Reform Alliance?

RSRA is a group of vetted roofing companies that meet regularly—quarterly and annually—to review best practices, ethical standards, and homeowner protection.

This isn’t a group you can simply pay to join.

To become a member, a roofing company must:

  • Be approved through an application process

  • Meet insurance and licensing requirements

  • Maintain a strong reputation

  • Have clear, documented processes

  • Commit to no high-pressure sales tactics

  • Agree to treat homeowners with respect and transparency

Every member must sign a formal pledge.

If a contractor violates that pledge, they can be removed from the organization and denied re-entry. If a homeowner files a complaint and it’s validated, membership can be revoked.

That level of accountability matters.

Why I Personally Chose to Join RSRA

Before I got into roofing, I came from the environmental services industry here in New Jersey.

If you’re familiar with that space, you know it has a long history of being confusing, fear-based, and, frankly, corrupt. There have been class-action lawsuits against companies in that industry—including former competitors of mine.

I didn’t like that system.

So I did something different. I moved the industry away from vague, confusing pricing and shifted everything to flat-rate pricing—something almost no one was doing at the time. That change helped reform how homeowners were treated, and it allowed me to build the industry-leading company, with over 800 Google reviews, before exiting the business in 2022.

When I entered roofing, I immediately saw the same problems all over again.

Why Roofing Feels So Confusing to Homeowners

Homeowners constantly ask:

  • Why are there so many different warranties?

  • Which manufacturer should I trust?

  • Why do quotes look completely different from one another?

  • Why does everyone say they’re “the best roofer”?

The truth is, good roofers and bad roofers often sound exactly the same. Everyone claims they’re number one. Everyone says they have the best system. And as a homeowner, you’re left trying to guess who’s telling the truth.

That’s the problem RSRA is trying to solve.

Why RSRA Matters for New Jersey Homeowners

I chose to join RSRA because I wanted Tetti Roofing to be held to a higher standard, not just by ourselves, but by a third-party organization.

As a homeowner, you should do the same thing.

Instead of trusting the closest roofing company to your house—or the one with the loudest ads—you should start by visiting the RSRA website and looking for contractors who are members of this organization.

That instantly narrows your options down to companies that have agreed to transparency, ethics, and accountability.
